Chugach is a Teaming Subcontractor to Kwajalein Range Services (KRS), LLC in support of the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll (USAKA) Reagan Test Site (RTS) Logistics Support and Integrated Range Engineering Support Services contract.
SUMMARY / GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Under general supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for operating, overseeing, and performing preventative maintenance on the 55,000 gallon per day primary treatment wastewater plant at Roi-Namur or the 450,000 gallon per day return activated sludge secondary treatment wastewater plant at Kwajalein.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:
Adjusts chemical doses accurately in response to changing wastewater quality parameters.
Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to plant equipment including, but not limited to, blowers, pumps, valves, chlorination equipment and other plant equipment.
Learns and adheres to all effluent quality regulations.
Assists wastewater plant staff identify and repair major mechanical problems.
Cleans and organizes the wastewater plant.
Ensures the wastewater plant process is running smoothly as the sole operator on shift.
Adjusts plant processes as needed.
Updates operating records.
Performs accurate lab analysis.
Orients new employees to the plant.
Leads and mentors less-experienced personnel.
Submits reports pertaining to compliance of the wastewater plant.
Performs daily operational and fluid checks on vehicles before, during, and after operation of the equipment, and keeps equipment in good working condition.
Drives and operates a sewer pump truck to pump out and unplug grease traps, manholes, and sewer lift stations.
Keeps the supervisor apprised of work situations and problems encountered.
Adheres to Company safety policies, procedures and programs.
Determines parts, supplies and material requirements for job accomplishment, and inventories/orders supplies to replenish bench stocks.
Adheres to and accomplishes the preventative maintenance plan.
Learns collection systems pipe and manhole locations in order to quickly respond to emergencies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Providing direction to other members of the department in assigned tasks, while promoting an environment of strong teamwork and harmony.
Completing technical, fiscal, procurement and research tasks as assigned.
Performing consistent high-quality laboratory work.
Successfully planning assigned projects to completion.
Following written procedures and instructions.
Troubleshooting problems to reach a successful outcome.
Performing the duties of the Kwajalein Wastewater Plant Supervisor in his/her absence, if requested. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years’ experience as a Level 1 Waste Water Treatment Operator.
Possess a Level 1 or higher Wastewater Treatment Operator license.
Ability to pass and maintain the respirator fit test with a tight fitting respirator as work will be performed around chlorine gas.
Possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, and ability to obtain a heavy equipment license to operate a sewer pump truck.
Appropriate mathematics skills which may be required to perform simple calculations.
Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word.
Read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
Possess a current U.S. Passport.
Ability to pass all employment background checks, including a physical/medical clearance and drug screen. Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in biology or chemistry.
Possess a Level 4 Waste Water Treatment Operator License
Mechanical knowledge and the skills to repair plant equipment.
Experience working with assorted utility piping systems.
