Overview on Wealth Management & the PAG:
Wealth Management and Investment Management Technology (WMIMT) is responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and Investment Management Business.
Investment Products & Services IT (IPSIT) delivers technology solutions and services, primarily supporting the Investment Products and services business within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. The technology is mainly aligned to those businesses which include Mutual Funds and 529s.
Major Applications in Mutual Funds are:
Mutual Fund Trading Application - This application caters to all the trading needs for MF products. It handles RoA calculations, LoI setup and other Mutual Fund trade processing.
Mutual Fund Trading Networking Application - This is the industry standard for mutual fund account reconciliation and dividend processing. Through Networking, all customer account-level information – whether in an omnibus or non-omnibus environment – can be exchanged and reconciled between fund companies and broker/dealers and other distribution firms, allowing identical information to appear on all parties’ records.
SIP / SWP - This application enables user to setup automated investment and withdrawal options. The application also generates trades based on user preferences.
IMM- Institutional Money Market Funds Trading platform.
OFNL - This is the in-house sub accounting platform. It accumulates user trades and generates Omnibus trades.
529 STP Mutual Funds IT - The 529 State Tuition Plan System supports the daily processing and trading of the 529 STP accounts. This system caters to Morgan Stanley’s requirement of being a full service provider for 529 STP plans. Core functions extend from Account opening and Maintenance, Trade generation, Aggregations, Deposits, Reporting and Tracking and processing of un-invested cash. Our IT team is responsible for supporting and maintaining the STP system at various stages and processes.
Primary Skills / Must have:
o Must have a thorough understanding of web technologies and web architectures and a solid grounding in object oriented analysis and design, OOPS, C#, Dot Net framework
o Good understanding of HTTP, DOM, IIS and how the browser works
o Ability to interpret business requirements and produce 3-tier architectures/object oriented designs. Ability to produce Functional and Technical Design documents
o Must be able to document existing systems by performing source code analysis.
o At least 3-4 years of experience, preferably in Financial Services or Banking IT
o Strong analytical, problem solving skills and debugging skills
o Significant experience developing applications/services under an onshore-offshore model. Ability to work as part of a geographically dispersed team, should be eager to learn new technologies
o Capable of effectively meeting time-sensitive deliverables with accuracy and a high level of attention to detail.
o Good time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task, handling multiple efforts at once
Secondary Skills / Desired skills:
o Understanding of financial domains (Mutual Funds would be added advantage)
o Ability to coordinate with various teams to deliver projects successfully
o Knowledge of UML design
o Understanding of CICS Web Services and DB2 Stored Procedures.
Role & Responsibilities:
o Development Engineer within Mutual Funds in IPSIT organization, with primary focus on development, maintenance, and support of various Dot Net Services / Applications related to the Mutual Funds platform.
The responsibilities of the individual will be to:
Programming, conduct code reviews, and test software as needed
Ensure Follow project plans and task are on track
Ownership of application components and ensure timely delivery of the same
Ensure quality of deliverables
Work with development lead, SCRUM master and architecture team in understanding the requirements, designing and implementing.
Write quality unit test cases
Participate in architecture, design and peer code reviews.
Understand the build and deployment process and be a go to person for troubleshooting live issues.
Work in Waterfall as well as Agile methodologies.
